Ablations

Ablation is a procedure to treat some types of abnormal heart rhythms or arrhythmias such as atrial fibrillation and atrial flutter. A physician will use a specialized catheter that can deliver radiofrequency energy to an area of the heart muscle that is conducting extra impulses. The RF energy once applied will cause the heart muscle cells to stop conducting impulses thus restoring the heart to regular rhythm. Ablation destroys the abnormal heart tissue without damaging the rest of the heart.

Ablation is typically performed when medicines are not effective, not tolerated, or not convenient.

This procedure is performed in the hospital in a special room called the electrophysiology (EP) lab and can take from 2 to 4 hours to complete.

Our doctors have many years of experience, advanced training, and knowledge in ablation procedures. They perform the ablations in dedicated electrophysiology labs with a highly trained dedicated team. The patients we see in the consultation are patients who have symptoms of palpitations, heart “fluttering”, or “skipped beats” or those patients who have already been diagnosed by their physician with an arrhythmia such as atrial fibrillation, atrial flutter, or supraventricular tachycardia. Our doctors, nurses, and staff will inform you and guide you through every step of your experience, from making an initial consultation appointment, to scheduling your procedure, and to your follow-up care after the procedure.

We are committed to maintaining a comfortable and safe place for your health and continuity of care.
